CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
CISM-CITTÀ DI UDINE INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

CISM acknowledges the importance of the presence of international scientists at its headquarters and in the city of Udine as part of its institutional activities aimed at promoting mechanical sciences.
Through this call for applications, the Centre also aims to highlight the city of Udine as an ideal partner and welcoming destination for scholars temporarily residing there, emphasizing its quality of life and the high standard of liveability recognized at the national level.

The purpose of this call is to attract scientists interested in spending two consecutive weeks in Udine to start or complete a joint research project, being part of a team consisting of two members from different institutions. The two scientists will also have the opportunity to attend two CISM courses as auditors during their two-week stay in Udine and to participate in concurrent activities at the University of Udine.

Interested scientists must submit, by December 22, 2025, the following:

  • An extended abstract of their research project (max. 4 pages) containing title, composition of the research team, proposed methodologies, expected results, and essential bibliography;
  • the CV of each team member, indicating a single scientific article from their work that is particularly relevant to the proposed research project.

An international jury chaired by the Secretary General of CISM will evaluate the proposals and announce the winners of the call by February 28, 2026.
The winners will be reimbursed of travel expenses and provided with free accommodation in Udine for two weeks, under the conditions applied by the Center to its guests.

The winners of the call will commit to:

  • submitting a brief report on their research results to CISM within one month after their stay in Udine (and no later than December 15, 2026), authorizing CISM to publish it;
  • including the title of "Scientific Ambassador of the City of Udine" in their curriculum vitae;
  • participating in the "Proclamation of the Scientific Ambassadors of the City of Udine" ceremony;
  • contributing to the international promotion of CISM’s scientific activities and of the city of Udine, particularly with regard to quality of life and active citizenship;
  • being available to be appointed as jury members for awarding of the title in editions of the fellowship subsequent to the one in which they were awarded the title.
