The International Centre for Mechanical Sciences (CISM), Italy, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, organized a Joint Advanced Workshop titled “Emerging Topics in Architectured & Multiscale Materials, Soft Robotics, and Data-Driven Model Discovery” from July 21 to 25, 2025.

This event marked the first collaboration between CISM and IISc, and is intended to be the starting point of a recurring series of joint workshops. The initiative, originally proposed by Prof. Antonio DeSimone and Dr. Vivekanand Dabade, was supported by institutional funding and aimed to promote academic exchange in advanced topics of solid mechanics.

The workshop featured a series of lectures, tutorials, and discussions led by invited experts. Participants included faculty members, early-career researchers, and doctoral students from several Indian institutions. The scientific program facilitated meaningful academic interactions and discussions on emerging areas in the field.
