On July 14, 2020, in the conference room of CISM, Prof. Soldati delivered the Freeman Scholar plenary lecture at the 2020 Fluids Engineering Division Summer Meeting.
The meeting is the annual venue of the Fluids Engineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and this year the meeting was held in Orlando, Florida.
The meeting attracted about 500 participants most of which had to participate in the virtual meeting mode. The lecture was about drop and bubble-laden turbulent flows and what we can learn about the physics of such flows through detailed numerical simulations.
Prof. Soldati was recently honored with the 2020 American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Freeman Scholar Award in Fluid Engineering, first italian to received the award. The Freeman Scholarship is bestowed biennially, and was established in 1926 by John R. Freeman, noted hydraulic engineer and scholar, honorary member, and 24th president of ASME.
